COURSE OUTLINE
The primary focus
of this course is on how we dress – the underlying business of textiles,
design, creation, and distribution of clothing. Throughout this course
we will discuss the following topics:
The Nature of
Fashion Accessories
The Movement of
Fashion Textiles: Fibers and Fabrics
The Leaders of
Fashion Apparel for Men, Women and Children
ATTITUDE/BEHAVIOR:
You are expected
to act appropriately in class at all times. Speak correctly, use proper
language, and treat each other with respect. Please treat the classroom
and computer equipment with respect as well. You will be expected to
uphold the School of Business Code of Conduct.
ATTENDANCE:
Unless you are
LEGALLY absent from school, you are expected to be in class. It is your
job to be in class (seated & ready to work) when the bell rings. If
you have lessons, a guidance appointment, or any other reason for not
being in class, you must speak to me before class for my
approval. Failure to do this may result in your being written up for
cutting class.
MAKE-UP WORK:
If you are out of
class, it is your responsibility to make up all work. All make-up work
is due the following day after you receive the assignment. Failure to
make-up any missed work will affect your grade.
If you cut a
class, a grade of zero will be given for that day’s work. You are still
responsible for completing the lesson!
NOTEBOOK:
Having a notebook
is an extremely important part of your grade. If you are out of class,
it is your responsibility to make up all notes. Be sure to ask a
classmate or me for any notes you might have missed. During the
quarter, your notebook will be graded and counted as one test grade.
HOMEWORK:
It is your
responsibility to hand in all homework. If you are absent, make sure
you speak with me or a classmate regarding any assignments you may have
missed.
PROJECTS:
You will be
assigned four fashion projects during this course, plus be involved in
creating a window display. All Projects must be handed in on time.
Failure to complete a project on time will result in your grade being
lowered one full grade for each day the project is late.
PARTICIPATION:
This class will be
more enjoyable if you are a full participant and offer your thoughts and
ideas to the rest of the class. If you hear about a news story on
television, radio or read about something in a magazine or newspaper,
please bring it to class for all to discuss.
TESTS:
Tests will be
announced and given according to notes covered in class. There will
never be any surprise information asked for on an exam.
GRADING:
75% - Test and
Notebook Grade
25% - Homework and
Project Grade
Extra Help is
always available. Do not hesitate to ask. I am available before
school, after school or during some periods during the day. Please do
not wait until you feel overwhelmed to speak to me.
