ATTITUDE/BEHAVIOR:

You are expected to act appropriately in class at all times. Speak correctly, use proper language, and treat each other with respect. Please treat the classroom and computer equipment with respect as well.  No unauthorized programs, games or internet usage is allowed without the teacher’s knowledge and approval.  If you are found to be abusing the computers, or using programs not authorized you will be given a warning, and after the warning, additional incidents will result in the student being given a zero for the day.

ATTENDANCE:

Unless you are LEGALLY absent from school, you are expected to be in class. It is your job to be in class (seated & ready to work) when the bell rings. Since practice and focus are essential to advancing in keyboarding, attendance is mandatory and will be considered when the final classwork grade is given.

MAKE-UP WORK:

If you are out of class, it is your responsibility to make up all work. All make-up work is due the following day after you receive the assignment. Failure to make-up any missed work will affect your grade.  Since the majority of the class is practicing your keyboarding skills, you will be asked to come to class during a free period or before or after school to make up the missed time.

If you cut a class, a grade of zero will be given for that day’s work. You are still responsible for completing the lesson!

CLASSWORK:

Daily assignments include exercises in the KDP Program, and MS Works. All work will be graded based on if a document can be mailed. Misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, spacing, formatting are all examples of a document that can not be mailed. Since a large portion of your grade will come from classwork, it is important to submit all assignments the day they are due.

NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED, UNLESS YOU ARE LEGALLY ABSENT.

PARTICIPATION:

Class participation is a MAJOR part of your success in the course. Participation will count as a portion of your classwork grade for the marking period.  You are expected to complete all of the materials required to master Keyboarding.

HOMEWORK:

Homework will be assigned on an as need basis. It is your responsibility to hand in homework on time. If you are legally absent, your homework is due the day you return.

TESTS/QUIZZES:

If you are absent the day a timing test is given, you will be given three days following your return to take a make up timing test.  If you do not complete this test within the time frame a grade of an “F” will be assigned.

GRADING:

Your quarterly grade is derived at by the following percentages:

Classwork/Effort 25%

Tests/quizzes 75%

Grade Scale: Pass/Fail (You may use “A”, Passing requires a minimum grade of “C”)

EXTRA HELP:

I will be available Tuesday  after school for those who need extra help, or for you to make-up work. During my non-teaching periods, before and after school I can be found in the Business Education Office.

THERE WILL BE A FINAL EXAM GIVEN AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER.
